Gemma Arterton Probably Not Replacing Megan Fox In Transformers 3![]()
When it became clear earlier this week that Megan Fox really wouldn't be coming back for Transformers 3, we knew it would only be a matter of time before some other hot young thing popped up to replace her, and the first name to get thrown into the running was Prince of Persia and Clash of the Titans star Gemma Arterton.
But, come on-- Arterton is a classy British gal with other career options, and Bay's taste tends to lean more toward the Victoria's Secret model with negligible acting skills. And on that note, Movieline picked up on a series of posts on both producer Don Murphy's forums and Bay's own site from a poster who claims to be in the know, and says that Arterton is "not even close" to replacing Fox. Now, God only knows who this guy is, or where his authority coming from, but I think this story is getting traction online because it confirms what we all expected-- Arterton has no reason to take the job, and Bay has no reason to cast her .As we learned when a nobody named Megan Fox got the part for the first film, the role of Sam's girlfriend doesn't require anyone with marquee value or talent-- Bay can step outside his office, find a girl with a tan at the bus stop, pay her $25 and a makeover and replace Fox just fine. And Bay knows that. The Movieline guys are trying to speculate who the girl might be, with guesses from Amanda Seyfried to Scarlett Johansson, but they seem to know what we do-- whoever he picks will be an unknown suitable for posters for teenage boys across the nation. |
