I imagine it’s cliché at this point to say that George Clooney is my man crush. He’s an impossible dude to resist. And he just seems to get smoother with age. And I don’t necessarily mean his looks either. The guy went from starring in a pretty good television series to starring in some of the best mainstream independent movies released over the last decade.

In his next role, Clooney will play the title character in The American. Yep, Clooney is playing THE American. If he’s our representation, then I’m more than proud to live here. The film, directed by Anton Corbijn, will follow Clooney as Jack, a master craftsman who finds some time away in Italy from his dangerous profession after a bad job and ends up falling in love and making friends with a local priest. All isn’t good, though, as his job follows him to his peaceful getaway. The movie will co-star Bruce Altman and Thekla Reuten.

With both Up In The Air and The Men Who Stare At Goats coming out soon, Clooney seems to be just as unstoppable as ever. And given his keen taste in roles, I imagine The American will be another good call. If it’s not, at least it will have George Clooney in it.
