George Clooney's The Ides Of March To Open The Venice Film Festival![]()
There's no feeling in the world quite like finishing something you've worked hard to get done. Whether it's finishing college or dieting down to a specific weight, the sense of real accomplishment is a hard thing to come by and should be cherished when it does. For George Clooney, that feeling comes with The Ides of March. Based on the play Farragut North by Beau Willimon, Clooney has been trying to get the film made since at least 2007 and has finally accomplished that feat. Now it's ready to be shown to a wide audience.
Deadline reports that The Ides Of March is set to be the opening night movie of the Venice Film Festival. Set to be distributed by Sony Pictures on October 7, the film will have its world premiere on August 31. Based on the 2004 presidential run by Howard Dean, Clooney stars in the film as a presidential candidate who is caught in a scandal and must rely on his campaign manager (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and his head of media (Ryan Gosling). The film also stars Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. The last time George Clooney directed a project he was passionate about we got Good Night and Good Luck, so one can only imagine what we're in store for this time around. The cast is absolutely stacked and Clooney has no wheelhouse stronger than politics. So to all the folks in Italy that get to see the movie early, enjoy. |
