It looks like George Lucas has come back out of his Clone Wars coma and decided to put Lucasfilm to work on something new. THR says they’re planning some sort of mysterious, top-secret, computer animated musical.

Does that mean dancing, singing Ewoks? Probably not. It’s likely set outside the Star Wars universe and it’s being directed by Kevin Munroe, best known as the guy behind the CGI Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that came and went back in 2007. David Berenbaum wrote the script and it’s unclear whether Lucas was involved in coming up with the idea, as he so often is with Lucasfilm projects, or if this is something else entirely. But Berenbaum wrote Elf which, while not exactly a musical, has its more musical moments. If there’s anything in this script which is even half as good as Zooey Deschanel’s final song in the film, then this could be interesting.
