Get Smart Set To Control Love Guru's Chaos

Get Smart Set To Control Love Guru's Chaos Comedy is king again this weekend with two new movies set to try and show you the funny in the hopes that you'll show them the money. If you really want a good laugh though, there's only one to see.

Mike Myers has completely lost it. I never really found his Austin Powers schtick all that amusing, but even critics who loved his spy spoofery are agreeing that his lastest bit of gimmicky comedy, Love Guru[Read the CB Review], is pitiful. The laughs in the film might reach your funny bone if you're thirteen, find bad Indian accents amusing, and still giggle when you hear the word "boobies". Otherwise there's very little in the movie to endear anyone to Myer's latest character, Guru Pitka.

Still, given the past successes of Myers and the fact that teenage girls will turn out to see Justin Timberlake in a movie, the guru just may give The Incredible Hulk a solid run for second place this weekend, though neither stands much of a chance at number one given the competition.

Get Smart[Read the CB Review] is the cure for the common Pitka. Unlike Myers, Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway aren't out to take your hard earned ticket money and offer you a turd in return. Opening in 1000+ more theaters than Love Guru, Get Smart will not only be easier to find but also easier to find entertaining. So far this decade Hollywood hasn't managed many worthwhile television-show-to-movie adaptations, but Get Smart manages to get the laughs without embarrassing itself, its stars or the audience. It'll easily be number one at the box office in a week when Hollywood is taking a break from the blockbusters to let everyone catch their breath and a laugh.
