Ghost Rider 2 Update From Producer Mike De Luca![]()
After his birthday yesterday, and the internet finally realizing that he can play ANYBODY, it's a wonder why Nic Cage would even bother with sequels when he has such a wide breadth of characters he can step into. Alas, it seems the most prolific and diverse actor of this or any age will still be putting the flaming skull mask on again for Ghost Rider 2.
Collider sat down with producer Mike De Luca, who dropped all kinds of knowledge about the motorcycle riding anti-hero and his upcoming sequel. Most important of all, Mark Steven Johnson will not reprise his role as director, and Eva Mendes will not reprise her role as waste of space. David Goyer, who is penning the script, may step behind the camera as long as time and schedule permits. Just don't look at his directing credits if you're looking for some kind of affirmation that Ghost Rider 2 will be good. While they don't talk about a ton of details about the actual story, it is known that Cage will bring his boundless charm and limitless personality to Europe this time around. Also, because the movie is so similar to Avatar (where's that sarcasm font?) there's a good possibility you and Cage's forehead will get up close and personal in 3D. Finally, De Luca said they're looking for a hard PG-13 rating, which sounds ridiculous to me. You can say “fuck” twice in a non-sexual context, and you can say “shit” as much as you want. Good work guys, you're going to make a shitty movie. Having seen the first film, there's no reason for any amount of good news to lift anyone's spirits about a sequel. It along with Wolverine, is a bottom-shelf movie, and that's where it deserves to stay, so I can only imagine just how bad a sequel will be. But I'm a little excited for the train wreck. |
