The Ghostbusters Have A New Method Of Transportation, See It Now

When there’s something strange in your neighborhood, you know exactly who to call: the Ghostbusters. This summer will see the release of Paul Feig's long-awaited Ghostbusters reboot – headlined by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones – and we will see an all-new generation of Ghostbusters ushered into existence. Needless to say, our excitement for the film has officially reached an all-time high. Of course, in order to hunt paranormal monsters effectively, these brilliant women will need a proper method of transportation to swiftly respond to all of the calls that come in. A brand new official image has just hit the web, and it showcases the Ghostbusters’ new means of getting around the city, check it out below.

The image – courtesy of IGN – shows one of the rides we will see used by the new team of paranormal investigators. In addition to the classic retrofitted ambulance similar to the original Ghostbusters movies – called Ecto-1 – the new female team of Ghostbusters will also ride modified motorcycles.

Like so many other things in the Ghostbusters’ arsenal, Ecto-2 has a piecemeal appearance that creates the idea that it was slowly developed by technical geniuses who possess very little in the way of resources. The motorcycle bears the traditional Ghostbusters color scheme (complete with the Ghostbusters symbol) along with plenty of atomic imagery on the side. The back of the vehicle appears to carry a mobile Proton Pack, while the front seems to have a sort of forward-mounted barrel so the team can bust ghosts while on the go.

Of course, just because the women of Ghostbusters will be riding around atop Ecto-2 doesn’t mean they've completely mothballed their classic ride. One of the first official images of the female Ghostbusters team showed the women of the film standing in front of Ecto-1, meaning that the car’s existence will be acknowledged at some point during the film. Whether Ecto-1 is an antique, or the car they use for a portion of the film remains unclear at this point, but our interest has most certainly been piqued. Check out the photo of the new Ghostbusters standing in front of Ecto-1 below.

Even without the combined comedic genius of men like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd, we feel confident in our belief that the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot is poised for glory. As time goes by and we gain more insight into the tools and technology of the rebooted Ghostbusters, our anticipation only increases. We will just have to wait and see what other toys the heroines will use when the film hits theaters on July 15.
