It often seems like I stumble on the best stories right before I go to bed. Then I end up debating whether I should write it up or quit typing and get some sleep. Of course if I go to bed, I won't actually sleep, I'll just lie there thinking about how I should have typed up that one last news item beforehand. So I've chosen to just throw out the link to the first trailer for Terry Gilliam's Brother's Grimm and be done with it.

We're a little behind the curve on this one, I think it hit the web last night but it's not to be missed. Director Terry Gilliam you may not remember from his amazing Don Quixote film, since it was swept away in a massive flood through an act of God. Gilliam took a hint from the big man, gave up, and made this movie instead.

The trailer for the long in production film is a giddy little piece of fantasy magic. Heath Ledger is almost unrecognizable underneath that beard and Matt Damon looks absolutely ridiculous in a wonderful David Copperfield sort of way wearing that idiotic wig. Ledger and Damon star in the film as the legendary Grimm brothers, whom you may remember as the authors of such children's stories as "Little Red Riding Hood". Personally, my favorite Grimm fairytale is the "Hobiyahs" in which a cute little dog has his limbs removed by vicious little killer creatures. By the end of the story the dog is a sausage and his owners have been murdered. It's a children's story… really!

Gilliam's take looks like a mix of Dragonheart and Jabberwocky, but you can examine it for yourself by clicking the trailer link below and watching in Quicktime.
