Giovanni Ribisi and Johnny Depp seem to be at the beginning of a beautiful friendship. The actor recognizable from his stint on Friends and movies like Lost in Translation already has a role in this summer's Public Enemies, and now Variety is reporting that he'll be joining Depp in The Rum Diary as well.
The Variety piece has no more information, not even letting us know if this means that The Rum Diary is finally inching closer to production. Depp has one of the most jam-packed schedules of any actor out there, so there's really no telling when The Rum Diary will get started. But Ribisi signing on to play a fellow wandering journalist in the Hunter S. Thompson adaptation has to be a good sign, right?
