Girls' Allison Williams Lands Title Role In Rosaline, On The Short List For Fantastic Four
Allison Williams has received positive marks for her role as Marnie Michaels on Lena Dunham's Girls, but thus far she has not made her way to the feature stage of her career. But that looks like it could be changing soon, potentially in a big way. Deadline is reporting that not only has Williams landed her first role in a theatrical film, but that she is on the short list to star in one of the biggest upcoming superhero blockbusters.
First, the site says that the young actress has secured the title role in Michael Sucsy's Rosaline. The director has long been attached to the project, which is a take on Romeo & Juliet from a different perspective. In the play, Rosaline, the niece of a Capulet, was originally the object of Romeo's affections, but fell out of favor when he gazed upon Juliet. The film is now moving forward at 20th Century Fox with Shawn Levy attached as a producer.
The big news for comic book fans, however, is that Deadline says Williams is also on the short list of actors being considered for the Fantastic Four reboot that is being prepped for release in 2015. The site stresses that things are still in the "very early talking stage," but presumably she would be up for the part of Sue Storm in the movie. Chronicle's Josh Trank is attached to direct the project and newcomer Jeremy Slater wrote the first draft of the script, with Seth Grahame-Smith recently signing on to do some rewrites.
Do you think Allison Williams would make a good Sue Storm? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
