Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx have both played heroes-- a Spartan charged with an impossible war in 300, an innocent cabbie held captive in Collateral-- but they're both capable of being villains too. In Law Abiding Citizen, coming out Friday, October 16, we get to see a little of both; Butler is the grieving family man driven to the edge by an unfair judicial system, while Foxx is the good-hearted district attorney who makes morally ambiguous decisions in favor of what he thinks is the greater good. It's a revenge movie, yes, but also a meditation on the different compromises and half-truths that make up justice--along with a lot of explosions, of course.
