Glory Road Poster and Pics![]()
The last year has already seen its share of sports movies. Unfortunately almost all of them have been kid’s underdog sports genre movies, which means there’s still room for at least one more sports flick: the true story underdog sports genre film.
More than happy to fill that void comes Walt Disney Pictures, one of the leading edges in true story underdog sports genre films, with Glory Road. Having already tackled hockey and the luge, Disney now brings a more mainstream sport story in the “true story of the underdog Texas Western basketball team” (quoted straight from the press release). The notable thing about these underdogs: they “had the country’s first all African American starting lineup, surprisingly winning the 1966 NCAA tournament title”. Basketball was a white man’s sport at one point? What fun was that? Below you’ll find the poster for Glory Road and two promo shots featuring Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama) as the team coach, Don Haskins. Avoiding the 2005 over saturation of underdog sports movies, Glory Road takes the court in January, 2006. |
