Go Joe!![]()
“Crashing through the sky, comes a fearful cry of COBRA!” That’s the first line of a re-worked theme song that opened G.I. Joe: The Movie. The opening five minutes rivals any animated work of the 1980s and still brings a tear to the eye of grown-up Joes. Now, since Hasbro’s relationship with William Morris Agency, the Joes might storm the silver screen once again. This time, as a live-action movie with Lorenzo di Bonaventura to produce, says Variety.
"Our focus is on creating immersive brand experiences for Hasbro's brands," said Brian Goldner, the toymaker's chief operating officer, who is also an executive producer on Transformers. "We felt our partnership with William Morris would enable us to activate our brands in the right entertainment forms and create those experiences over time." Variety also reports that, in addition to Transformers and G.I. Joe, CAA had brokered content deals for Tiger Electronics' VideoNow player and paired up Hasbro's sports brands such as Nerf and Lazer Tag with the Vans Warped Tour. Here’s to hoping for a Nerf sword-dueling, medieval period piece. |
