It's been 6 months since Ryan Reynolds was confirmed as the lead in The Green Lantern, and it's taken since then for the production to leave Australia, find a new home in New Orleans, and eventually track down a female lead.

And now, after all that waiting, production is finally ready to begin! Superhero Hype! saw that visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas posted on her blog that the movie has been given the official green light, and shooting will start in 10 weeks, a.k.a. sometime in March.

This is right in line with what we mentioned yesterday in the news about the Deadpool screenwriters-- basically Ryan Reynolds will be done shooting Green Lantern by the summer, and then in fighting shape to play the merc with a mouth. Now the really fun part of the Green Lantern production begins-- set photos! Can't wait to see Reynolds wearing the ring.
