Sometimes simpler isn’t always better. According to THR, Zack Snyder and the folks at Warner Bros. have decided to do away with the title Guardians of Ga’Hoole and just call their animated film Legend of the Guardians. If Quentin Tarantino can get us to alter the spelling of the words ‘inglourious’ and ‘basterds,’ I'm pretty sure we could have stomached the word ‘Ga’Hoole.’

The switch is lame for a number of reasons. First, the film is based on Kathryn Lasky’s series of books with the same title. It’s about a young owl named Soren who’s snatched from his home by the evil Pure Ones. His only hope of defeating them is to seek out the Great Tree, the home of the legendary Guardians of Ga’Hoole. See? The word Ga’Hoole has a meaning! Perhaps the apostrophe makes it look awkward and there might be trouble pronouncing the word, but after hearing the title dozens of times in trailer voice work, it’ll seem like it’s part of the English dictionary. The worst part of the name change is that the studio opted for something so painfully generic instead.

Oh well, it’s only a title. With Snyder helming the film and stars like Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Helen Mirren, Sam Neill, Geoffrey Rush, Jim Sturgess and Hugo Weaving voicing the characters, we have to have something good flying our way on September 24th.
