Guillermo Del Toro's Nose Is Growing![]()
Really, how seriously are we supposed to take any announcement of a project that Guillermo del Toro is working on? He's booked solid for the next decade, and yet, the guy just can't say no. The latest project bound to suffer from his neglect will be Pinocchio, a stop-motion feature he'll work on with the Jim Henson Muppet factory to make a darker version of the fairy tale we all know from Disney.
Del Toro is executive producing as well as working on the screenplay, according to an interview he did with Bloody Digusting, so at least he doesn't seem to have a delusional belief that he has time to direct it. I don't want to suggest that I think del Toro should stop working on movies-- lord knows he's a one-of-a-kind visionary-- but it's hard to get excited when he's spreading himself too thin. I'd be pumped beyond belief to see del Toro's take on Pinocchio, but I'd be even more thrilled to see him take his time on a selected few projects, and really give us something worth watching. |
