Yesterday we learned that Drew Barrymore was the second choice to direct the third Twilight. So who’s the first choice?

HR has the answer. They say Juan Antonio Bayona may be the frontrunner to helm Twilight: Eclipse. Bayona is a protégé of Guillermo del Toro and he’s currently in pre-production to direct the Del Toro produced movie Hater. You’d think a director with macabre roots would be perfect for a vampire movie… except Twilight isn’t really that kind of vampire movie. It seems like an odd choice.

Other sources, like this fansite claim the studio may end up simply giving it to Paul Weitz, brother of Chris Weitz, who’s already directing the second movie.
