Guy Pearce Is Basically Snake Plissken In First Trailer For Lock-Out
Guy Pearce has a pretty heavy upcoming slate, but one of the biggest titles on that list is Prometheus, the new science-fiction epic from director Ridley Scott that may or may not be a prequel to the Alien franchise he began in the last 1970s. But that's not the only time that Pearce has spent in space recently. Also on his slate of upcoming movies is Lockout, a Luc Besson-written and produced science-fiction project directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger. Sadly we still haven't seen the first trailer for Prometheus (though it is expected sometime this month), but today delivers our first look at the second film.
Check out the trailer for Lockout below.
While there's no denying that the second half of the trailer is more action-packed and exciting, I actually really love the first portion of this trailer. Pearce seems to have a real "Brad Pitt in Fight Club" quality going for him and I really like the way that the names of the actors in the film are presented. Add the fact that Peter Stormare is the guy asking all the questions (we don't see nearly enough of him anymore) and you have my interest.
Lockout stars Pearce as a man wrongly accused of spying on the United States, but in lieu of punishment he is offered the chance to help rescue the president's daughter (Maggie Grace), who is trapped in a space prison that the inmates have managed to take over. Basically, Guy Pearce is Snake Plissken and Manhattan Island has been moved to the stars. This may be the closest to an Escape from New York remake we'll ever get. The film will hit theaters on April 20, 2012.
