Director Ridley Scott may be guarding the plot details of Prometheus like a chivalrous knight protecting his lady, but at least he's been kind of enough to let us know who's in it. Mostly. Michael Fassbender, Noomi Repace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and a few others have been officially confirmed, but it's someone the director hasn't announced that's getting all the buzz.

Word is Guy Pearce has joined the cast in an unknown capacity. A loose lipped behind the scenes worker told a friend, who told CHUD, who spilled the details. The rumor mill is far from the most reliable medium of communication, but something about this actually does feel right. There are three types of Hollywood-related rumors. The first is ludicrous accusations that can be disproved immediately through common sense (i.e. Jennifer Aniston in Scream 4). The second is something like this that sounds believable enough but doesn't have concrete evidence, and the third is fact-based assertions that ultimately hold up (i.e. Tom Hardy in Dark Knight Rises).

Originally envisioned as an Alien prequel, Ridley Scott's Prometheus is a movie supposedly about aliens and discovering DNA in Morocco. All we know for sure is that the film has a sizeable budget, asks big questions and has fanboys excited with anticipation. I'm withholding enthusiasm until I see the first trailer, but if Pearce ends up being it, that'll certainly be a check in the pro column.
