Martin Campbell may not be back to direct the followup to Casino Royale, but it looks like Paul Haggis will return to write Bond 22.

The story comes from The Los Angeles Times through Coming Soon where they say he’ll work on polishing a script already written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. When not making his own brilliant films like Crash, Haggis is well known as a master script doctor, and is often brought in to improve or fix other writer’s scripts. That’s what he did on the Casino Royale script, which was also originally written by Purvis and Wade.

Personally, I wonder why they don’t just hire Haggis to write the whole thing right from the beginning, and cut out the middle man. Unless he’s just not interested in spending that much time on it, though you’d think now that he’s ditched Medellin, he’d have time on his hands.
