Director Paul Haggis is hard at work on his follow-up to the best movie of 2005, Crash. The movie is called The Garden of Elah and will be based on a Playboy investigative story by Mark Boal called "Death and Dishonor". It tells the true story of a father (and officer) who rejects the army's assertion that his son has gone AWOL and discovers his boy has been murdered.

Variety says Haggis has started lining up a cast for the pic, and that Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones are in negotiations to star. If they agree, Tommy Lee will play the career soldier father while Charlize plays a local police detective who helps him uncover his son's mystery.

Tommy Lee Jones's has kept his schedule pretty open. He's finished work on his next movie No Country For Old Men, and doesn't have anything else on the horizon. Charlize is of course loaded down with work, but this is Paul freakin Haggis and hopefully she'll have the good sense to spend her time working with him rather than spending an extra week or two on the unnecessary sequel The Brazilian Job.
