The Hangover Part III Set Photo Reveals A Key Plot Detail
We’ve heard plenty of rumblings that after recycling the spiked-drink formula for two Hangover comedies, the third and likely final installment in Todd Phillips’ drunken trilogy would abandon that template and take the Wolf Pack on the road. We’ve also heard rumors about Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms breaking Zach Galifianakis out of a mental ward, but nothing has confirmed that to date. Instead, we’ve just spotted a fan-captured image that reveals where The Hangover Part III will head, at least temporarily.
This photo was posted to Imgur, with the user explaining that his hometown of Nogales, Arizona was being transformed into Tijuana for the benefit of Phillips’ sequel.
Tijuana fits right in with Las Vegas and Bangkok – international spots known for seedy, booze-fuelled partying. If Phillips had to single out a new location to strand his hungover leads, Tijuana would be it.
But that goes against the notion that Phillips won’t put his crew through another comedy that asks, “What happened last night?” So while the sequel looks like it will spend at least some time south of the border in Mexico, I’d be very surprised if this was the chief location for Hangover III. Maybe this is where the adventure starts? Maybe everything comes to a head here? It’s all still a mystery.
Here’s what we do know: Phillips and his cast are filming for the rest of the year, aiming for a May 24, 2013 release date. This is supposed to be the last Hangover, seeing as how Cooper, Helms and Galifianakis have been moving on to bigger projects (some, even, with Oscar hopes, like Cooper's Silve Linings Playbook). And yet, if the third Hangover banks as much as its two predecessors, don’t you feel Warner Bros. will try to lure them all back for a fourth?
