Hans Zimmer Will Score Zack Snyder's Superman![]()
Say what you will about Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie, the score by John Williams is as iconic as it gets. Simply put, it's a beautiful piece of music that also immediately brings the movie to mind from the first note. Naturally, any composer is going to have a hard time scoring any other Superman movie as a result, but if there's anyone that's up to the challenge, it's Hans Zimmer.
Thompson on Hollywood recently spoke with the famed composer at DVD release party for Inception (one of the best scores this year) and he confirmed that he will indeed be crafting the music for the next Man of Steel installment. Zimmer has worked on every Christopher Nolan movie since Batman Begins in 2005, but he's collaborated with Zack Snyder before. Other future projects for Zimmer include Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sherlock Holmes 2 and Kung-Fu Panda 2. So now the big question: what will the composer's score sound like? In contrast to Williams' original, Zimmer's work is often full of bass and quite dark tonally, though, depending on how Snyder, Nolan and David S. Goyer approached the character, he may be forced to change up his repertoire. While it would have been interesting to see Williams return to the DC Comics franchise, I wait with bated breath to see what Zimmer can come up with. |
