Count me as one of the few guys that actually liked Harold Perrineau in the somewhat disappointing Matrix sequels. His character wasn't the problem, it was the dozens of other new characters the Wachowski's added that gummed up the works.
Both before and after The Matrix though, Harold has had a successful television career. Now of course, he's a staple as Michael on "Lost". Before that he was a major player in the hot-button men-in-prison series "Oz".
Now though, Harold Perrineau is breaking back into film. The Hollywood Reporter says he's been cast in Fox Atomic's horror sequel 28 Weeks Later. He gets the part of an upbeat (and possibly wise-cracking) American Special Forces pilot who leads London families to safety after a new outbreak.
Last week we told you that Jeremy Renner had been cast as the movie's lead, the addition of Perrineau is starting to make the movie look more like an ensemble. That might make sense, since the first one sort of leaned in the ensemble direction.
Until today, my interest in 28 Weeks Later was basically nil. But with the addition of Perrineau and the news that Danny Boyle is staying on as a producer things are starting to look up for this particular sequel project. 28 Days Later was a tight little pseudo-zombie flick. Done right more of it might be good.
