Tragedy has struck the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. No they aren’t film yet, at least not exactly. The movie’s stunt crew was testing stunts to be used in the film at Leavesden studios in the UK, when Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double was injured by an explosion.
According to the Mirror, the stuntman was rehearsing a flying sequence involving pyrotechnics. He was in a flying harness when an explosion knocked him out of the air, smashing him into the ground. The 25-year-old was conscious afterward, but reportedly told other crew members, “I can’t feel my legs.”
No other word yet on the status of the injured man, other that he was rushed to the hospital and there are fears that he may have suffered a paralyzing back injury. Sometimes, awash in all the CGI of modern movies, it’s easy to forget that somewhere behind the scenes there are people literally often risking their lives for our entertainment.. Hopefully this particular tragedy turns out to be less serious than it sounds.
