Have Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci And Lenny Kravitz Been Offered Roles In The Hunger Games?
Keeping in mind that Vulture's last scoop about John C. Reilly being offered a role in The Hunger Games was eventually denied by the actor, they've got word that three more actors have been offered parts as well. According to their latest exclusive, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz have all been offered parts, though we only know which role they want Harrelson to play.
That part is Head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane, who like many of the adult characters is a fairly small role in the film-- he's in charge of designing the Hunger Games, where the main characters Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) are sent to fight to the death. Tucci and Kravitz's roles are still under wraps-- apparently the security at Lionsgate is pretty intense-- but Vulture speculates that, given his fashion-forward role in The Devil Wears Prada, Tucci could play Katniss's gentle stylist Cinna. I'm actually actively rooting against that-- Tucci is marvelous in everything, but remember how good he was as a creepy villain in The Lovely Bones, even though the movie was a mess? I'd be way more interested to see him play the malevolent President Snow, or even use his lighter side to play TV personality Caesar Flickerman. Snow is the possibly the biggest role for an adult other than Haymitch-- one that Tucci is absolutely wrong for-- so I'm setting my sights on that one.
As for Kravitz, both Vulture and I are stumped-- he could easily play Cinna or another male stylist, since he's a pretty fashionable dude. I'm almost inclined to write him off entirely given the caliber of actors they're getting for all the other roles, but he was actually really good as the nurse in Precious, so he might fit well into a role like Cinna, a gentle guide to the terrified Katniss. Then again, consider this all rumor for now-- Lionsgate is locking down so much information about this film it's impossible to know what's actually happening.
