Henry Cavill has already donned the iconic red-and-blue Superman suit as part of his audition for the new Zack Snyder-directed, but that's not quite what we're getting a look at on this week's cover of Entertainment Weekly. Donning a leather jacket and a Superman "S" just peeking out on a gray t-shirt, Cavill isn't exactly the Man of Steel, but he is looking at the camera with a glare that says "I dare to you tell me I can't jump a tall building in a single bound." EW.com explains that Snyder had Cavill wear a replica of the suit Christopher Reeve sported in the original Superman film during the audition process; as Cavill puts it, his internal monologue went something like "Oh, god. They’re going to look at me and go ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance.’" Snyder, for his part, saw it differently: “He walked out, and no one laughed,” says the director. “Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow.’ Okay: This was Superman.’”

This week's print edition of Entertainment Weekly will apparently have a lot more from Cavill and Snyder, though given that the script for the new Superman movie reportedly isn't even finished, don't expect a lot of plot details just yet.
