Hereafter Converts Close-Minded Atheists In 4 New Clips image
The more I see of Hereafter, the more it strikes me as a movie for people who think Ghost Hunters is a scientific program. The trailer hit all those superstitiously silly notes and while these new clips don’t actually contain any ghosts, they do contain a lot of entitled people who seem to believe it’s their divine right to talk to their loved ones who’ve crossed over to the other side. Poor Matt Damon, he’s sick and tired of talking to ghosts.

These clips don’t much for me. If this were an M. Night Shyamalan movie it might be forgivable, but normally I expect better from a Clint Eastwood directed film. Maybe there’s more here than meets the eye. I’ll continue waiting patiently to see it, in the meantime here’s four clips from the Hereafter.

In this scene, Matt Damon must deal with a selfish and mostly annoying neighbor who can’t accept that her child is dead.

In this scene, yet another selfish person, this time played by Jay Mohr wearing some sort of golden retriever on his head, tries to force Matt Damon to use his talent for seeing dead people.

Yet another self-absorbed person, this time played by Gwen Stacy, tries to force the still reluctant Matt Damon to use his Whoopi Goldberg-like talents for her own personal satisfaction. Noticing a theme here? Dance monkey, dance!

No one’s trying to use Matt Damon against his will this time. Instead this is the obligatory scene in which atheists are portrayed as close-minded, misguided people who refuse to see the truth about the afterlife.

Yep, this movie definitely isn’t doing much for me. But, let’s face it, I’m not the film’s target audience. If it's good, it'll win me over in the theater, not sitting at my computer. On the other hand, if you're really into this ghost stuff, maybe your reaction is different. If so, let me know what you see in this movie so far, using the comments below.
