At this point, Marvel Studios has developed a pretty solid track record. While not all of their movies completely work, they are also number one in the production of entertaining comic book blockbusters. Earlier this year they scored huge with the release of Captain America: The Winter Solider, but their latest film, Guardians of the Galaxy has long been a bit of a question mark. Could Marvel really craft something successful out of an adaptation of an obscure comic book series set far out into the cosmos?

The answer is a resounding yes.

As I explained in my five-star review, there is very little not to love about writer/director James Gunn’s latest film. The film is far and away the funniest Marvel movie to date – a significant milestone standing next to entries like The Avengers and the Iron Man trilogy – but it also has more than a few thrilling action set pieces, a wonderfully bizarre cast of characters, and some legitimate emotional moments. It’s a movie that you feel to compelled to talk about with everyone… which brings me to Hero Blend #28.

This week I am joined by Jack Giroux from Film School Rejects, who helps me break down the ins and outs of the movie. In case the headline wasn’t a big enough clue, we do get into spoiler territory, so watch at your own risk if you haven’t seen the film yet. Now that’s all out of the way, hit the play button above!
