Hero Blend #38: Marvel Vs. DC - Who Has The More Impressive Slate?

This past summer’s San Diego Comic-Con was a rather disappointing one for comic book movie fans. While many – including myself – had incredibly high expectations of big reveals, we were actually left learning very little big news. This past week, however, has been what I expected Comic-Con to be.

It all began this past Tuesday, when it was revealed not only that Robert Downey Jr. is in negotiations with Marvel Studios to be in Captain America 3, but also that it will be the launching point of a big screen adaptation of Civil War, the major comic book crossover event that rocked the Marvel world back in 2006. It was a shocking reveal that demonstrated just how far the world of comic book movies has come.

But then it was DC Comics’ turn at the plate. Having already revealed release dates for comic book adaptations that will come out between now and 2020, Warner Bros. officially announced their full slate of superhero films – including solo titles like The Flash, Aquaman and Wonder Woman. They also finally revealed that Jason Momoa is locked in to play the King of Atlantis, and that Ezra Miller has signed a deal to star as the Fastest Man on Earth.

This was a landmark week for comic book movies, and we have a great Hero Blend episode for you as a result. Joining me once again on the show is Cinema Blend’s own Sean O’Connell, and together we dissect not only the future of Marvel Studios and DC Comics, but also what it means for the industry as a whole.
