When she was widely mocked for daring to take on the iconic character of Bonnie Parker, and then feuded with original Bonnie Faye Dunaway to defend herself, Hilary Duff wasn't doing much to make herself sound like a real actress. And the next role she has coming up, other than Bonnie, will likely only make matters worse.

According to this week's Production Weekly, Duff will be starring in Provinces of the Night, a movie so Southern-fried it features a banjo-playing vagrant and a wife who ran off with a peddler. While that's all well and good, it's the fact that Duff will be co-starring alongside Toby Keith that gives me pause. Sure, Keith is authentically Southern, but he's most recently starred in Beer For My Horses, and hasn't been given much credit as an actor. Not to say that everything Hilary Duff does should be to make us like her, but if she wants to win a war of words with Faye Dunaway, this doesn't seem like the place to start.

The film will be directed by Shane Dax Taylor, who doesn't have too many credits to his name. It's unclear where Duff will even come into play in the story, but given that she's top-billed, she must have a sizable part. Check out the plot description below and see if you can figure it out. I'd bet on her being Raven Lee Halfacre, but I really have no idea.
