I am not going to be able to think about Hilary Swank's next film until after the Oscar season. Because the movie's titled, The Resident, is so similar to The Reader, I am bound to get confused, and think Hilary will be seducing a 15-year-old boy for her next go-round.
But since the movie doesn't start filming in May, I think my strategy will work. Variety is reporting that Swank will star in the project as a doctor who movies into a new Brooklyn apartment and eventually discovers her landlord is a stalker. Bummer, man. The director will be first-timer Antti J. Joniken, who also co-wrote the script with Robert Orr and Erin Cressida Wilson. Jokinen has taken that time-tested route of directing music videos before trying his hand at a feature; hey, it worked for Brett Ratner!
