The Hobbit Global Fan Celebration Event Is Live!
Very soon fans around the world are going to get their chance to not only watch some brand new footage from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, but also hear all kinds of behind the scenes stories straight from the mouths of those responsible for actually making the movie. As we told you late last month, we sill soon see the start of The Hobbit Global Fan Celebration Event, which will be launching in countries around the world where fans have gathered in movie theaters to get a sneak peek at the latest J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation. But in case you couldn't get your ticket, I have some good news: you can watch the entire event in the video player above.
Hosted by CNN Anchor Anderson Cooper. the event has stars and filmmakers behind the next Hobbit film spread across the world and broadcasting from Los Angeles, New York, London and Wellington. Richard Armitage, who plays Thorin Oakenshield, and Orlando Bloom, who returns as Legolas from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, are in New York; Evangeline Lilly, who plays the brand new Elf character Tauriel, is in Los Angeles; Lee Pace, who portrays Thranduil, the Elf king, will be broadcasting from London; and Luke Evans, who plays Bard The Bowman will be with Andy Serkis and director Peter Jackson will be in Wellington. Audiences have also gathered together in Brussels, Belgium; Hamburg, Germany; Madrid, Spain; Mexico City, Mexico; Miami, Florida, USA; Paris, France; Rome, Italy; Sydney, Australia; and Toronto, Canada to watch the live-streamed event on the big screen and will be participating in the question and answer session.
At each of the theaters around the globe audiences will get to see an extended 15 minute footage reel from The Desolation of Smaug. While that won't be the case in the embed you see above, you will be able to watch a newly edited preview piece.
