Hollywood Goes Through The Car Wash Again![]()
Does the world really need another movie that purports to lift back the veil on Hollywood and show us once and for all how ugly the industry truly is? The answer to that is no, and the answer was no in every decade before this one, every time another movie came out asking us to be shocked about celebrity drug use and affairs. And yet, Hollywood Car Wash, Lori Culwell's book with candy-colored cover featuring a skinny young thing, will be turned into a movie at the hands of producers David Foster and Ryan Heppe, who seem to think this is a fresh perspective.
"It's easy to forget that we work in a very unique and entertaining industry, and there's a great deal of fun to be had in holding up a mirror to ourselves -- especially if it's a funhouse mirror," Heppe told Variety. Over at Amazon, a Publisher's Weekly excerpt describes the book as "Glammy, dishy and disposable—a beach book shoo-in." Obviously, those are the kinds of adjectives that sell books-- Confessions of a Shopaholic had the same thing going for it. I just find the whole Hollywood tell-all aspect boring. Am I alone here? |
