Cavemen are seriously about to become the new hot thing. It’s those damn Geico cavemen that are to blame. If only Phil Hartman was still alive to take advantage of this big, impending cro-magnon resurgence. There’s a new caveman television show based on the aforementioned Geico prehistorica men, and director Adam Rifkin is working on a Caveman comedy called Homo Erectus.

Rifkin has just posted the first trailer for Homo Erectus online, and it’s actually kind of funny. Will the joke work for 90 minute? Alright I have my doubts about that. The movie uses the kind of gags that tend to wear thing after about ten minutes. It’s about a caveman named Ishbo. He’s kind of like the world’s first nerd. He comes up with all these great ideas for improving caveman life, and his cave-mates mostly just hit him in the head. He’s also in love, with a bab-a-licious cave-chick played by ‘Heroes’ star Ali Larter. Most guys would just hit her over the head and drag her off, but Ishbo is opposed to clubbing.

Watch the first trailer using one of the videos below. Actually, they’re exactly the same, except for a single frame which for some inexplicable reason varies. In the first trailer there’s a quick flash of Ali Larter’s face, in the second one you get a quick flash of Ali Larter in a cave-bikini. Otherwise, they’re identical. Watch:

And while we're at it, here's a bunch of other, rather funny other miscellaneous gag videos, outtakes, and movie clips Rifkin and his gang have put together from Homo Erectus:
