If you've seen Hanna, you're well aware that Saoirse Ronan knows how to handle a tough role with some impressive stunts. We'll see the Irish actress in action again when The Host arrives in theaters this March. A behind-the-scenes video has arrived online and focuses on Ronan's stunts for the film, which include dropping off a balcony.

Directed by Andrew Niccol, The Host is based on a novel by Stephenie Meyer and stars Ronan as Melanie and Wanderer. Melanie is the original occupant of the body that Wanderer, an alien "Soul," has taken over. The body-snatching story is set on earth where these Souls have taken over most of the human race. When Wanderer takes Melanie's body, Melanie refuses to abandon her own mind, giving Ronan two roles in one as her characters are forced to co-exist in the same body and attempt to track down Melanie's boyfriend and some of the other resisting humans.

The video below comes from AOL and features Ronan as she talks about doing her own stunts, including getting into a harness and jumping off a balcony.

"There's one stunt where I jumped off a balcony, and they just put me in a harness," Ronan says. "They asked me did I want to do it and apparently they were having bets that I wouldn't do it. And I proved them all wrong. It's just been lovely. Lots of fun."

As a fan of Ronan from Hanna and The Lovely Bones, her involvement in this adaptation is one of the reasons I'm really optimistic that the film will be great. From what we've seen in the trailer (and the video above), it looks like they're making good use of the sci-fi backdrop, which may be one of the benefits of having Niccol at the helm, as the director's last film before The Host was In Time.

Yesterday we shared a couple of character posters for the film. You can check those out here. The Host arrives March 29. More information, photos and video can be found in our Blend Film Database.
