Whether you have an interest in short films, or because you prefer to make educated choices with your Oscar predictions, it isnít too late to view some of the nominated short films before the 84th Academy Awards take place this Sunday night.

While itís likely that most of us are much more familiar with the feature length films nominated for Academy Awards this year, short films will also get their chance to shine this Sunday night. ShortsHDís website lays out all of the nominees for short animated, live action, and documentary films, and includes details and previews for each of them, as well as the various ways you can view them online or in theaters. The video below (via iTunes) features clips from the animated short films, which include Dimanche/Sunday, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, A Morning Stroll, La Luna and Wild Life.

The above video is really just a sample of each of the animated shorts nominated this year. If youíd rather watch them in their entirety, iTunes has them bundled into one video purchase for $6.99 ($8.99 HD). (La Luna is not listed among the included shorts on iTunes) For the same price, you can also purchase the nominated live action short films. It doesnít look like the short documentaries are on iTunes, but the ShortsHD does have trailers for all but one of them. Theyíre definitely worth checking out, though it might be difficult to predict the winner based on the trailers alone. All seem to focus on particularly emotional stories.

ShortsHD also has polls for the nominees in each of the three Short categories for fans to vote for their favorites. Right now, it looks like The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore has a significant lead among the animated shorts. Raju is taking the lead in Live Action, and fans seem to be favoring The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom for Short Documentary. The trailer for that one is particularly emotional and intense as it includes footage from the devastating tsunami, as well as snippets of interviews from the survivors.

You can view the full list of 2012 Academy Award nominees here. The 84th Academy Awards air Sunday, February 26 on ABC.
