MOVIE NEWS
I See A Saw Sequel![]()
It's as certain as the fact that no one will ever really be able to kill Jason: horror movies will always get a sequel.
Last year's thiller/horror hit Saw is joining the ranks of movies getting a second serving and with the time table it's on there's a good chance it's going to end up undercooked. According to Cinescape, Saw 2 is set to begin filming in May of this year with a Halloween release. If I sound slightly pessimistic about this, don't worry, it's not because I loved the first Saw. It's just the thought of sequels in general sends chills down my spine. At the helm will be director Darren Lynn Housman. Who, you say? My reaction exactly. The good news is that Housman has written and directed two other films, both in the thriller/horror genre. The bad news is, no one has ever heard of them: they're more obscure than Danny DeVito's hairline. Housman is also writing the script for Saw 2. If his lack of experience disturbs you, don't worry...he was also a production assistant on National Lampoon's: Van Wilder....yes, everything is under control. The silver lining for Saw fans is that Cinescape reports Housman is working very closely with Leigh Whannel and James Wan, writer the director respectively of the original film. Of course, in Hollywood speak, that could just mean that Housman conference calls their cabana in Tahiti once a week. Whether Saw 2 will be really good or really bad, doesn't matter - the results should be scary either way. Check out the teaser poster below, thanks to Impawards.com. . |
