Edward Norton is at his best whenever he’s being more clever than everyone around him. He just embraces those roles that put him in a position of smarmy power over others. Don’t believe me? Check him out in Rounders and you’ll see him in all his brilliance.

The Illusionist is giving Norton another chance at that smarmy attitude. As the titular illusionist, Norton works his magic against Rufus Sewell’s Prince to steal that which is most valuable to him: the love of a woman (Jessica Biel). The trailer also shows fan-favorite Paul Giamatti along for the ride as an Inspector.

This is the type of movie that casting alone would have me excited over, but the trailer looks even more compelling. Sadly it’s presented by AOL which means it’s about the size of a postage stamp, but even that doesn’t completely detract from what looks to be a very interesting movie.
