There is no doubt that Iron Man 2 will be one of the bigger spectacles in 2010. If the trailer is any indication, Favreau has upped the ante from the last film (which many were upset didn't contain a bigger climax) and the inclusion of the artillery laden hero War Machine should make from some bright flashing lights and pretty explosions. There is a very clear indication that the production is going balls-to-the-wall this time around. And what better way to facilitate that ideal than by putting it all on a 72 ft. screen?

IMAX Corporation has sent out a press release stating that Iron Man 2 will be given a simultaneous run in IMAX when the film is released on May 7th. According to the release, the film slate for IMAX has been filling out faster than ever before. Favreau has actually been pushing for an IMAX release of the sequel since 2008, though his hopes for 3D were dashed in late December.

If someone is actually surprised by this news I'll eat my shoe. Until some new, better technology is found, we can probably expect to see every big budget comic book movie on the BIG screen. Now all we need is for IMAX to stop lying to the public and cut the bullshit IMAX Digital. Only then can there be peace in a world with films that fill the entire field of vision. And cousin, that's a world I want to live in.

Iron Man 2 will be in IMAX:
