Inception 2? Just Say No To Sequel Rumors![]()
Let me be the first to say that there’s no way in the world Inception will ever get a sequel. You’re going to hear a lot of talk about the possibility of Inception 2 and in fact some bloggers are already attempting to post stories hinting that it’ll happen, but this is an idea which will never even be considered, let alone actually get done. Christopher Nolan is too smart to permit it.
The Inception story, in spite of a cliffhanger at the end, is clearly intended as a single, self-contained film. The movie’s made a ton of money this weekend and so studio may want another one, but right now Nolan has all the clout he needs to keep it from happening. Even if he didn’t, he’d never agree to do it, and there’s no Inception 2 without Christopher Nolan. So forget it. It’s hard enough to keep a dynamic filmmaker like this focused on making more Batman, which truly lends itself to more movies, without trying to strongarm him into making sequels to things which would only be lessoned by them. Even the cast seems to know that the notion of doing another one is ridiculous. MTV caught up with a lot of them on the Inception premiere red carpet and tried to start the sequel rumors going, but instead what they got was a bunch of stars who had no interest in talking about another one. Cillian Murphy told them, “I don't have the authority to speak on that.” Dileep Rao who plays Yusef and Lukus Haas who’s barely in the movie, tried to leave the door open, but seriously, this is never happening no matter how many people try to turn their “in dreams anything can happen” quotes into sequel rumors. Inception 2? No way it happens, and that’s how it should be. Ignore anyone who tries to tell you otherwise, odds are they’re selling something. |
