Indy Rumor Resurfaces![]()
Indiana Jones may have a title that involves a crystal skull, but an old rumor is making its way across this world wide interweb thing again. This is a rumor that was tossed out months ago and discredited, but now it seems to be coming from the very people who proved it false last time. Does this mean it was always part of the plan and the initial rumor is right or is this just the same smoke going around?
Rumor has it that the production of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has moved indoors. After filming in Hawaii and Connecticut (among other locales), the production has moved onto a soundstage for an important scene. The soundstage allows the production to back up and film something from days past – about twenty-five years past, that is. If the word at AICN is to be believed, the production crew has created a reproduction of the warehouse from the end of the original Indy tale, Raiders of the Lost Ark. You know the location: the one filled with crates, one of which holds the all-powerful Ark of the Covenant? Initially when this rumor surfaced, it was part of a suggestion that Indy would be hunting down the Ark as part of the new movie’s plot – thus tying in Abner and Marion Ravenwood again. Basically, he’d go to the warehouse, find the Ark missing, and have to go on a new quest for it. The title Kingdom of the Crystal Skull along with recent plot revelations have pretty much nixed that idea. But if that’s the case, why are they back in the warehouse? Is this just a coincidence, much like the image on the wall in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - a nice inside joke for the audience? Or does the Ark of the Covenant play a part in Indy’s new adventure? Maybe the title (spilled by Shia) and the plot (spilled by a loose lipped extra) have been nothing but red herrings all along. Who knows? We sure don’t, but we’re having a lot of fun trying to figure it out. It wouldn’t surprise me to see notable figures like Lucas and Spielberg messing with their fans – after all, Spielberg is the one who gave Michael Bay suggestions on how to keep the Transformers plot secret. |
