I’m not sure why, but when I read McG’s latest Terminator Salvation blog posting here, I heard the voice of Uwe Boll in my head. That’s spectacularly unfair to Mr. McG, who has never been even remotely as German as everyone’s favorite cinematic antichrist.
In his new Terminator sequel update, McG has a lot to say about the direction this fourth sequel is headed. Like everyone in Hollywood who is profiting off of someone else’s idea, he wants his take on the idea to sound like it’s totally fresh, original, and not a sequel at all. He claims that his movie was only “inspired by the first films” but that it’s a “new beginning”. See, it’s not a sequel, it’s a reboot! Note to Hollywood: We all kind of prefer sequels, thanks. It’s hard to go into a movie pretending you’ve never seen all of the other movies which came before it, and kind of insulting, particularly if some of those previous movies were pretty good. It’s like saying we’re stupid, those movies sucked, and now you’re going to show us how you can do it better. Maybe Terminator Salvation will be good, but seriously McG, you’re no James Cameron.
But let’s go easy on old McG. Most of the rest of what he has to say is right on target for what we’re all hoping for from this fourth Terminator movie. Namely: cool looking killer robots. Sure he talks a lot about how hard he’s been working on the story, and brags about letting Christian Bale work on it with him, but what I’m interested in the technical stuff because I want it to look awesome when a robot takes someone’s head off. McG confirms they’re doing some pretty great technical stuff, and even claims that they’re shooting the entire thing in color. Color? I’ll believe it when I see it.
You can check out McG’s full update over on the T4production blog.

To the reader. I post here on Cinemablend all the time. I've never posted anything this negative.
Keep that in mind that I'm not a juvenile 16 year old with nothing to do, but I can't stand this guy, so here it goes:
Seriously, F*&$ McG.
I dont know him personally but if I knew where he lived I'd take a crap on his lawn if I could and hopes he steps in it. I'm not sure there is anyone in Hollywood who is more in love with himself and less talented. T1 and T2 changed movies. T1 made history and T2 only made it better. I forgot all about T3... to me I'll always consider it non-canon (though Sarah Connor Chronicles are growing on me).
OK, so he has Christian Bale (Sorry Chris, youre losing brownie points here), who is talented, but I can already see this being a major failure. I can this movie losing its grit. It should be sad, it should be hard, it should feel desperate and hopeless. It should NOT look slick and futuristic, it should be desolate and highly evident of destruction. The only real technology we should see should be on the robots side (I can already see Johns high-tech looking head piece and body armour etc).
These people should look and act as if thier in a world destroyed, living as best they can off the scraps of civilization, always scared, always on the run. Gezz, Im almost waitng for McG's version of Zion- a real human city! Mark my words.
I guess I dont know exactly what direction McG, I'm sorry, John Nichol, is going, ill eat my words if this movie is good, but he better drop this garbage attitude like he freaking invented Terminator and that we'd be greateful to get a whiff of his fart.
