MOVIE NEWS
Is Ben Stiller Starring In The Dark Comedy The Voices?![]()
Screenwriter Michael R. Perry is in the news today because he's been hired to write the screenplay for Paramount's Paranormal Activity 2, but it's his earlier screenplay that might be the more interesting one to watch. At the end of THR's report on Perry's new job, they mentioned that his Black List script The Voices is in progress at Vertigo Entertainment-- and now Slashfilm says they know who's in line for the lead role.
Even though the main character is written as a 29-year-old, apparently Ben Stiller is up for the part, a guy who accidentally kills a co-worker and then gets advice from his pets on how to cover up the murder. Slashfilm's Brendon Connelly has read the script and says "This is possibly even greater a piece of casting against type than was the case with Robin Williams in One Hour Photo." The movie sounds hilarious as well-- the animals are described as talking "Just like in Babe or Beverly Hills Chihuahua, except that Mr. Whiskers [the cat] is a son of a bitch." There's no source given for the Stiller news, so it could very easily be all rumor at this point, but the idea does sound interesting for a guy whose last attempt at something dark was the ill-fated The Cable Guy. We'll keep you posted on whether or not this becomes a reality. |
