Is Quentin Tarantino's Next Movie Titled Django Unchained?
Quentin Tarantino is a director who always has something stirring in the pot, but ever since Inglorious Basterds launched in 2009, fans have been clamoring for details about his next project. As first reported back in February, the director's next is said to be an homage to the spaghetti western set in the south, with Franco Nero, Treat Williams, Keith Carradine, and Christoph Waltz all rumored for parts. But while we may know those little details, one big question mark that remains is the title, but that mystery may have just been solved. Twitter user @AgentTrainee (via @FuMikeChu) has posted what appears to be the cover of the script for Tarantino's next project. Should the cover be real, the title of the film will be Django Unchained, which seems to be a reference to the 1966 Sergio Corbucci-directed Django, which also starred Franco Nero.
Let's try to authenticate this, shall we? First, let's take a look at the purported cover next to front page of Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds script:
If you're like me, the first thing you noticed is the way Tarantino writes his name. On the Inglorious Basterds script he writes it in all capital letters, while for Django Unchained it's a mix of capital letters with lower case ones. Is this definitive proof that this is a fake? Not really, but it is interesting. Next, let's look at the word "by." In this case, they are practically identical. Score one point for "real." Getting back to skepticism, look at the "Ns" in the title. While the second one in the word "unchained" is quite similar to those on the Inglorious Basterds cover, there's a lot of variation on the new script. Then again, the word "directed" seems to be written by the same hand. Also, the date: why would the last draft be dated April 26, 2011 if Uma Thurman said the script was finished back in March?
Contrary to the count, I think I am going to put some faith in this story. While not every puzzle piece fits perfectly enough of them do to make the cover look legitimate. I'm not a professional hand-writing analyst, but I think the title of Quentin Tarantino's next movie is Django Unchained.
