It's A Wonderful World For Broderick![]()
I miss Matthew Broderick. I’m probably one of the few people who wouldn’t mind a sequel to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off just because I’d like to see Broderick get to play that kind of role again. Sure, he had great success on broadway in The Producers (and more limited success with the movie adaptation) but I miss the wisecracking, know-it-all.
It’s not likely that Broderick’s next role will be too smarmy, so I guess I’ll have to keep waiting. Variety announces that Broderick will be headlining the independent film Wonderful World with Sanaa Lathan. Broderick will play a depressed, divorced, unemployed man who finds comfort in his roommate’s sister, presumably Lathan. Depressed and divorced – yeah, I don’t see this being a role that recaptures that Ferris Bueller flame. Production on Wonderful World starts next week with Joshua Goldin, who wrote the story, breaking his directing teeth on the picture. His previous credits include the screenplay of Darkman - of course, that picture has five writers listed, so it’ll be interesting to see what Goldin can do on his own. |
