It's The End Of The World As We Know It

By Ed Perkis: 2008-06-13 17:33:09
It's The End Of The World As We Know It I know Amanda Peet is a famous movie star and all, but I can’t remeber why. I’m sitting here trying to think of a movie she’s been in where everyone was going “boy, that Amanda Peet sure made the movie.” I know she was in The Whole Nine Yards, but wasn’t that pretty much cancelled out by The Whole Ten Yards? She wasn’t in The Godfather or anything, right? Seems unlikely. Well then, I’m stumped. That doesn’t stop Ms. Peet from getting cast in big budget spectacular’s like 2012.

HR says that Peet will star in Roland Emmerich’s latest disaster epic. She’ll be joining John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Oliver Platt. The basic story follows a global disaster and the subsequent struggle of the survivors. Peet will play Cusack’s ex-wife.

It might just be me, but the plot for this movie sure sounds a lot like The Day After Tomorrow. If anyone in this movie avoids a flood by taking refuge in the New York City Public Library, I’m calling copy-cats. The cast does sound pretty good, but hasn’t Emmerich done enough world-ending movies for one career? Hopefully, after this comes out in 2009, I’ll remember that Peet was in it.

  • I loved "Saving Silverman" but Peet's best work to date was her role on "Studio 60", it was a fantastic show with a truly amazing, inspired cast that never really got a chance. It was at the top of my TiVo Season Pass list.
