Jack Bender And J.J. Abrams Find Seven Minutes In Heaven![]()
We've been happily following the burgeoning directing career of Jack Bender, who directed so many of Lost's best episodes that I, at least, he'll have only good things to offer on the big screen. He's already in talks to tackle Moscow, the new Jack Ryan movie starring Chris Pine, but now THR is reporting he may team back up with Lost creator J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot for a teen thriller called 7 Minutes in Heaven.
Yes, it's inspired by game you played in middle school when your friends locked you in the closet with some boy or girl and you were supposed to make out but mostly stood there awkwardly staring at each other. No, it doesn't just end there-- in this version of the story, the boy and girl in question come back out to find that all of their friends are dead. Sounds gruesome, mysterious and pretty much perfect for Bender, who directed Walt's supremely terrifying kidnapping at the end of Season 1, Locke's murder in Season 5, plus dozens of other classic creepy Lost moments. Bender won't just have the directing duties, but the idea apparently came from him originally, though writers will be hired to flesh out the idea. It's uncertain how this will fit in with the plans for the Jack Ryan movie, but given the long collaboration between Abrams and Bender, I'd count on seeing it eventually, even if it it takes a while to get going. |
