Jack in Nacho Libre, a non-boring movie.

Whenever I report on a Jack Black casting story, I invariably get email from an obsessed fan of whichever replaceable starlet is starring opposite him, screaming at my audacity in billing Jack as the film’s top act. Face it folks, Jack’s the biggest thing on the planet. He’s even bigger than that scene stealing monkey who took up so much space in his last movie.

But Jack’s a really nice guy. So nice in fact, that Variety says Jack will help out Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh by allowing them to be in an untitled Noah Baumbach project with him.

The film stars Jack Black as the husband of a young woman visited at her upstate home by her sister and a 12-year-old nephew. I’m not sure how you make a movie out of that, but it’s happening. Jack will have his work cut out for him finding a way to keep this one rocking. Originally Baumbach was going to call the film “Nicole in the Country”, but they’ve scrapped that title since it would be a little weird with Nicole Kidman playing the film’s second leading role next to Jack. I think they should instead consider “Jack Rocks the Country” as the movie’s new title. Maybe turn it into a Tenacious D concert version of Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. I hear that’s doing pretty well at the box office.

Since this movie sounds rather boring, keep in mind that the next place you can see Jack Black is in the not at all boring movie Nacho Libre. It hits theaters June 2nd.
