He’s taken on rock music and wrestling, and now Jack Black is headed for adventure. He’s signed on to star and produce The Lost Adventures of Stone Perlmutter Jr.. No doubt this will wind up being Black’s rendition of Indiana Jones. Too bad his timing might wind up putting him against the real thing. Of course, they could always use that to their advantage like Austin Powers did, admitting the other movie has more draw.
The movie is a fake documentary created from “recently discovered footage” of the final, disastrous journey of Stone Perlmutter Jr. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the adventurer traveled the world in search of the great mysteries: the yeti, El Dorado, the lost tomb of Jesus, etc.
Although scripted by someone else (Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory of “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Larry Sanders Show” fame), this sounds right up Black’s alley. Perhaps pairing the actor with writers who are used to working with improve and monologue comedy will create a nice partnership, using their script as a frame that Black can have fun with.
